Waterfall Explorer

Along the Mull coast there are some absolutely epic clifftop waterfalls with a few hundred metre water cascades. This particular one pictured is set in a secluded bay where we land ashore to marvel at it up close and even swim in it's pools!

This coastline has stunning geology with very little access or modern settlements making it very wild. We can see eagles and other raptors here, otters on occasion, seals live in colonies and porpoises & bottlenose dolphins can be seen on occasion too.

Carsaig Arches

The Carsaig Arches are an amazing geological location, easily as good as any of the popular sites around Mull. The problem and benefit is their remote location, being a 6 hour return walk, and not in easy reach of large charter boats! Our fast RIB can take you there in just over an hour from Oban and it's very very liklely that you'll be the only ones there.

There are huge basalt column archways here to explore, whether that be on foot and landing via dingy, or via kayak, paddleboard or snorkelling. This is one of the hidden secrets to the Isle of Mull, a stunning location but without the crowds. See here for short video from a visit in 2017.

This location can easily be combined with the waterfalls or remote bays as a longer tour.

White Sand Beaches

Some of the best beaches in Scotland can be found within a couple of hours boat ride from Oban.

These remote places can be reached quickly with our fast boat and on a sunny day, there's no where better. Again these areas will have very few people, if anyone there at all. We could have a lovely picnic lunch here or any other idea you could have!

Activity options would be landing via dingy, kayaking, snorkelling, paddleboarding, team games etc. Have a look at a short video clip from an epic day there.

Corryvreckan

The Corryvreckan Whirlpool lies around an hour to the south of Oban through the Firth of Lorne, Slate Isles, Garvellachs, Scarba & Jura and is the third largest whirlpool in the world. The changing tides are squeezed between two islands, Jura and Scarba which have some unique underwater topography. A pinnacle comes up to around 30m from 200m+ which creates tidal races, whirlpools and standing waves as the water flows over the rock.

We can see lots of wildlife here including whales, dolphins, eagles, seabirds and and based mammals and it's a great wildlife destination.

We've helped a number of swimming groups complete the crossing here as a swim challenge. We provided boat & kayak safety support, see a short video here.

Stand Up Paddleboarding

SUP (Stand Up Paddleboarding) is a growing sport and we have a hire stock of 10'10" inflatable paddleboards that we use for coastal exploring. See this link for full details.

We can run shore based exploring trips, experience a classic west coast sunset, boat based A-B style trips. If you have a particular area you want to explore then let us know. Otherwise you can choose from our list of routes.

You can do this at some of our popular locations such as the lagoon or fingals cave too.

Sea Kayaking Oban

Our large cabin Ribs are perfect for transporting kayaks to remote locations or for A-B routes. We would suggest between 6-8 full size sea kayaks would be a maximum loading.

We are happy to discuss multi-day intinieries around the the Inner Hebrides or Small Isles for expereienced kayaking groups.

Shane has a particular interest in Surfskis and looking to try and dvelop more down wind routes around Oban.

Guided Kayaking

We use inflatable kayaks for sheltered water kayaking with our guides, they are lightweight and transportable making them really easy to move with out Ribs.

They are really great for sheltered water and travelling shorter distances or where we travel to the specific locations.

Options for this activity can be found on our scheduled Seal & Lagoon tours or we can include them on any of our multi-day or bespoke itininereries.

Beach Yoga

How about a beach yoga session, or secret location yoga! Many of our locations could be used an amazing yoga locations.

We can host yoga groups, or instructors looking to develop a bespoke itinerary. Nikki is a qualified yoga instructor and we run mixed yoga and adventure or wildlife tours such as on our free diving tour

A number of our staff practice yoga so we can offer some good advice around building an epic trip.

Snorkelling

Of course snorkelling is one of our main activities! Whether it with be with basking sharks, seals, cruising through our abundant kelp forests, sea grass beds, white sand beaches or soft coral reefs, we have some amazing marine life to discover.

Our one day seal & lagoon tour is a one of the best day snorkel trips which we can suggest but we have lots of places around the coast if you have specific interests. We are BSAC snorkelling centre and have hire gear that keeps kids warm from around 8 years old+.

Hill Walking / Munro Bagging

Munro bagging by boat!? We have a number of munro level mountains nearby that we can travel by boat to the start point. Along with plenty other hills that have easy access from the shore but no roads nearly. See below for some ideas.

Paps of Jura , Small Isles, Goatfell (when we are based in the Clyde)

Scuba Diving

We are very experienced with running scuba diving trips and we have a dedicated diving side of our business. Our owner Shane is a well qualified exprienced diver with many years exploring these waters.

We dive on our longer multi-day shark trips and we also run unqiue night diving trips too.

See Dive Oban & Argyll for more infomation.

Film Crews & Media

We have hosted many film crews over the years based from Oban, Mull, Coll, Tiree & Iona.

Productions that have chartered us range from hollywood movies, commercials, travel tv shows to wildlife documentaries.

We've had small discrete crews to underwater media diving, octocopter drones to boom mounted slow-mo camera setups. See more on our media services here.

Puffins

The Treshnish Isles are one of the most stunning groups of islands in Argyll.

The bird colony here is of national importance with 1000's of puffins, guilliemots, razorbills, kittiwakes, shags, along with predators such as bonxies and black backed gulls.

We offer this on our multi-day itinereries (3 days +)  along as a dedicated day trip from Oban or Tobermory.

One of the other special things we do is visit in the long summer evenings for sundown, it's a truly special experience to be in this location at such a time.

Whales & Dolphins

Whales & Dolphins collectively known as cetaceans are both resident and summer visitors to our coastline. We watch many different species on our tours whether that's a day tour from Oban or our multi-day wildlife tours based out in the islands.

For private groups with specific interests in cetaceans we can visit minke whale feeding grounds within a couple of hours from Oban. Other species we would also hope to see would be porpoises, common & bottlenose dolphins, along with occasional orca. There are a number of other species that we could encounter but the above are the most reguarly sighted species.

Island Exploring

We can offer one day or multi-day exploritary trips around the many islands that make up our coastline. The Inner Hebrides are within easy reach from Oban, with Mull, Coll, Tiree, Colonsay, Jura, Gigha, Lismore & Kerrera, 5min to 3 hours away.

Using our larger cabin RIBS we would also consider longer cruising itinereries enquires to the Outer Hebrides & St Kilda.

Please contact us for all bespoke enquries.

Whisky

Here in Argyll we're blessed with numerous distilleries with many of them easily accessible by sea, more so than by road! Of course we walk past Oban every day which is on our very own waterfront and the twon was actually built around the distellery!

However Tobermory (Isle of Mull), Jura, Islay and Ardnamurchan distilleries are all within a few hours boat trip from Oban.

We can arrange single visits to multi-distillery tours, either as specific whisky tour or in combination with any of our other activities and options.

Fingal's Cave / Staffa

The geological wonder of Fingal's Cave on the Isle of Staffa, we visit here on our longer multi-day trips and on a longer one-day tour also.

There are many other tours that visit here with large boats where large numbers of passengers are landed ashore. However with our maximum groups size of 12 and fast cabin ribs, we choose to visit at quieter times for a more private experience, along with organising watersports activities here.

We do need calm weather to be able to swim or kayak/SUP at the cave, but less so to be able to land on the island via dingy. This is one of the must visit locations of the Inner Hebrides and an epic location in the right weather.

Wild Swimming

We have run many wild swimming trips for groups over the years, whether this being the challenge of the Corryvreckan whirlpool, exploring remote locations, waterfalls, lochs, A-B swims from island to island or across tidal races.

We can organise all the transport, accomodation and bespoke itineraeries. We have full equipment hire designed for our cooler sea temperatures (which is actually warm in summer!).

For some more info please see our wild swimming page.
