Basking Sharks in Big Numbers in the Hebrides

Great news in our season has started with a big bang with fantastic basking shark sightings around the islands. Our first shark week tour of the year stuck it lucky with the weather allowing calm conditions to head offshore.

We captured some fantastic footage both from the drone and underwater, noting some interesting behaviours along with seeing  numerous breaches.

Our biggest number of sightings was over 25 in one day, whilst it’s hard to keep track of individual sharks we estimated around 15 individuals. With there 2023 season being a good one, 2024 was very poor so we are elated to have such good numbers back like we would expect around peak season. We’re excited to see what else the season brings.
