Oban Wild Swimming
Join us for a wild swimming adventure around the coastline of Oban and islands. Oban is known as "The Gateway to the Isles" and we have unlimited options to explore with a swim challenge to suit all levels and abilities.
Whether it's your first time swimming in the sea, a chilled 'swimble' in a sheltered bay or swimming across the Corryvreckan Whirlpool, we've been exploring the area as a business for 10 years and personally for many years before that!
We have full gear hire available if you don't have or don't want to bring your own. Our boats are designed with swimmers in mind with designated areas for dry gear and shelter, a wet deck during our swim time and boarding ladders to help get back on board. Most importantly, we also have experienced guides and instructors and carry specific swimming activity insurance.
Contact usAre you new to swimming, or new to swimming in the sea? Never used a wetsuit before?
We run fun group or private sessions to ease you into sea swimming in a safe and controlled manner. We'll give you some advice on the kit you'll need, weather and sea conditions and guide you for a short swim experience.
If you don't have any kit, then don't worry we have everything you need to have a safe and warm swim!
This can also be run as a boat based excursion where we can combine a dip with a wildlife & sightseeing tour of the area.
Join on us on a organised guided swim around the Argyll Swim Trail. Based in Oban, we will usually organise swims around the Oban venues, along with our own favourite swim spots.
You can bring your own gear or hire it from us.

Join us for a dip during a spectacular west coast sunset. Oban is the perfect venue for a sunset swim with the sun setting perfectly over the hills of Mull.
You can book as an idividual or in a group and it includes a guide.
Start times will vary depending on the time of year, but is run all year round.
Kit hire available.

We offer this experience from Autumn - Spring. In summer time the sun can be up until 11pm. This is an organised swim during darkness as the full moon rises above the hills illuminating our swim with ethereal natural light.
We provide safety cover and an organised swim at a venue to capture the best of the moonlight and calm waters. Look out for our events during the winter months.
.
Our floodlight swims are an amazing experience that we pioneered a number of years ago and a highly unique trip. Again like our full moon swims we can run these trips from Autumn - Spring as we need darkness for it.
Using our underwater lighting system, we illuminate a sheltered bay with >100,000 lumens of light creating a unique night dip.
We need settled weather and clear skies for this and it's an unbelievable experience under the stars.
Look out for dates during our winter season or to discuss this for a group contact us here.

Join us for an adventure over the Island of Easdale. First we take the small ferry over and walk round to the series of quarries dotted over the island.
Some are fresh water, some are sea water, others are a mixture of both. There are specific entry and exit points and a few things to look out for so we'll guide you round the safest and best parts.
Following a few swims, dips and jumps we'll warm up and head over to the excellent Puffer Cafe for coffee and cake; a great way to end our visit!
Water temperature is warmest in summer and autumn, but we can visit for shorter dips at other times.
Although there are lots of areas we can swim from the shore, going from our boat is a fantastic experience as we can visit uninhabited islands and sheltered bays whilst spotting some wildlife and sightseeing along the way.
Our tours ranges from 2-4 hours depending on the location and you can either join as an individual or book this as a group.
Longer boat tours to the likes of the Arches, Lagoon or Fingal's Cave are available too.
.
One of our favourite areas to visit for a swim adventure and forms one of our days on our spring 5 day and autumn 4 day boat based swim and wildlife tours.
After departing the marina we head along the south coast of Mull with good chances of whales, dolphins, eagles and seabirds on the way. The area is renowned for fantastic scenery with amazing cliffs and rock formations.
The first swim is into the waterfall - a short swim to shore then hop up on the rocks for a fantastic waterfall dip in a stunning setting. Jump back in and back to the boat where we'll zip over to the Carsaig arches. Hop off the boat and through the first keyhole arch, explore the formations then through the huge cavern and out the other side. Back into the water and out to the waiting boat.
A truly amazing and unique swim adventure! Join us on our longer tours above, or you can book this as a group trip.
.
One of our popular day tours from Oban. A Hebridean island lagoon with white shell sand, stunningly clear water, kelp forests and calm waters. On a warm sunny day, it doesn't get better than visiting these lagoons with sparkling water, gleaming beaches and no one else with you!
You can join as an individual on our Seal & Lagoon tour as a swimmer (although be aware the tour is snorkelling, so swimming but using mask, fins and snorkel- you can elect just to have a 'swimble' without these though). It is also available to book as a group or private charter where we can mould the experience to your specific needs.
See this link for the Seal & Lagoon tour otherwise contact us to discuss a private/group lagoon tour.

We've provided support for the infamous Corryvreckan whirlpool swim many times using our fast cabin RIB from Oban, along with providing kayak and/or safety swimmers. We mostly run it for groups, but we do occasionally have dates where you can book on as an individual.
We only run this on specific neap tides to give you the most opportunity for a successful swim. It's not the longest swim in the world with the distance being just over a mile, plus a bit extra with the tide. With some training it's an achievable target to reach, the location just has a fearsome reputation!
Contact us to discuss your support for a Corryvreckan swim challenge.

For those mega keen swimmers and adventurers we have persuaded Shane to share some of his secret spots. Most involve hikes, bikes, or even both into the hills but there are some absolutely amazing places to experience. Some have taken years of pouring over maps and exploring to find the exact place, and many also need specific weather conditions such as low rain fall.
Some of these places are sensitive and we won't publish their location. Over-tourism around honey pots has become an increasing problem in recent years with social media and the internet. Leading to rural communities and secret spots being over-visited, causing local erosion, litter, parking issues and irritated land owners. Some places that were previously not well known suddenly exploded on social media leading to hundreds of visitors in a short time without any infrastructure for visitors, effectively ruining the natural qualities that people sought out in the first place.
We're not saying saying Shane will confiscate your phone and blindfold you but he's protective of these places and nervous of the wider negative aspects of 'the Instagram picture'. Any visit to these places is with specific groups who buy into this mindset, and of course are fit enough for these types of adventure!
We are pioneers in swimming Fingal's Cave and it's a true bucket list experience.
This is an included activity on most of our multi day tours such as the Spring 5 Day and Autumn 4 Day tour and Three, Four and Seven day Shark Tours in the summer.
We also run it as a day tour from Oban or Mull outside of our busy summer season, but usually for groups. There is a little more risk in a day tour which needs a bit more weather luck. On our multi-day tours we work around the weather and pick the best window to visit.
